WRC performed a number of brake system conversions for both the Boone & Scenic Railroad in Iowa, and the Santa Fe Southern Railway in Santa Fe, NM.
UC-type brake valves require disassembly, maintenance, and inspection every 16 months to be compliant, and this work needs to be done by a qualified shop. For a tourist railroad with limited resources, this can be very costly.
WRC replaced these systems with more modern ABDX systems, which are good for 15 years at a time. Within three years, these conversions have paid for themselves.
