In late 2007 WRC received the shipment of a German-built boiler from Oregon. WRC was to initially replace only the firebox on this boiler, however, due to the nature of the construction of the boiler and the desire to comply with Oregon State regulations, it was determined to be far more cost effective to have a completely new ASME Code boiler built from scratch.
On December 17, 2007 the boiler was unloaded and placed in the WRC shop. From there the inspection process began to completely evaluate the existing material and calculate the dimensions and materials for a new firebox. It was determined that an exact replacement would not meet ASME or NBIC code. The results were reported to the customer along with estimates for a completely new boiler.
After the customer approved construction for a new boiler, work began to design a boiler with matching dimensions.
Over time the boiler began to take shape as the barrel, wrapper sheets, and firebox were all fabricated and assembled. The boiler was finally completed, inspected, tested and delivered in Spring 2009, a little more than one year after construction was approved.
