Fantastic! What can I submit?
Here are the details. We are looking for a number of things:
- Photos: There are some specific topics we’re looking for. Be sure to also see the “Photo Guidelines” below.
- First of all, we’d like any photos you have of Union Pacific locomotives No. 844 and 3985, especially photos that feature Steve in some prominent way. We would like your nicest-looking photos, but they don’t have to be perfect either, after all, we want it from your point of view. Photos should be original works.
- Other photos featuring Steve – but not necessarily the steam locomotives – are welcome as well.
- We would like any photos of the Olympic Torch Trains that operated for the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta and the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City.
- Photographs of the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific. More specifically: the areas of Kansas City, KS from July, 1977 to late 1978, and Silvis, IL from late 1978 to March, 1980. Obviously, pictures in this category that feature Steve will not be very common. General railfan pictures of the CRI&P in these areas will suffice.
- Photos of the Illinois Central in Kentucky during the 1950s and 1960s.
- Short Memories: Especially with Photo items 1, 2, and possibly 3, we’d like a not-more-than-one-paragraph memory or caption to go with your photo. This can be filled out on the submission form.
- Thank You Messages: We welcome you to simply say, “Thanks!” to Steve for his dedication and hard work.
- Essays or Stories: We will accept longer essays or stories not more than three pages in length (about 750 words) and not more than three (3) associated pictures, however, at this time we cannot guarantee inclusion of all essays or stories submitted.
