WRC has complete new construction services, specializing in new locomotive boilers and fabrication of replacement parts.
New Boilers
WRC hold the ASME “S” stamp credential to build Code-compliant steam boilers. These boilers have been built for a variety of applications, including several scale sizes of railroad steam locomotives (so far, 7½″ gauge to 36″ gauge), as well as vertical boilers used on steam launches. (That’s right… Boats.)
One problem challenging the operators of historic equipment is that of finding the proper replacement parts. Steam locomotives in regular use will eventually have parts that wear out or become damaged. Old parts either need to be reconditioned for use or used as patterns to build completely new replacements.
WRC has the knowledge, the experience, and the equipment to fabricate replacement parts for your locomotive. All parts are machined and constructed to exact specifications using only the proper grade of materials for the intended application.
In some cases, purely cosmetic restorations may only require “look-a-like” components to depict an accurate representation of a locomotive’s service life. Not only does it keep the functioning components safe from theft and vandalism, but also allows them to be available for potential use on operating equipment.
